Where it all started - Killingworth boys club 1980

Killingworth Football Club was originally formed as Killingworth Boys Club in 1980 by Phil Gibson and the late Lil Gibson. Phil remains a key member of the club and is still involved with coaching teams to this day!  His dedication to the club and grassroots football, as well as his continued passion for the game, is testiment to what an important figure Phil is and his patriachal role in the Killy family!

"CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT IN LIFE" - Heraclitus

Over the years the club has changed as it's evolved, firstly from Killingworth Boys Club to Killingworth Young Peoples Club and more recently to Killingworth Football Club*, each time with a view to being more inclusive and giving a truer representation of what we offer the local community. We now have numerous teams for all genders and ages including our seniors team along with our walking football team.

Regardless of each change, the club has always been affectionally known as 'The Killy' and can also be recognised by #UTK which stands for 'Up The Killy'

*The club is still registered as Killingworth Young Peoples Club for charity purposes and uses Killingworth Football Club as a 'working name'

HEAD SAFE FOOTBALL'S FIRST EVER TRAILBLAZER

Head Safe Football are committed to the well-being of football players at every level. Their approach is holistic, integrating rigorous scientific research with practical, on-the-ground implementation. Head Safe Football aim to minimise the risks associated with heading in football, a practice that has been linked to long-term cognitive issues and other health concerns, including CTE brain disease.

As a forward thinking club who prioritise their player's welfare, Killingworth Football Club are proud to work with Head Safe Football and be the first ever Head Safe Football Trailblazer!  Donna Rooke, club secretary of Killingworth Football Club, said: “We take the welfare of all our players really seriously, and while we want them to play and enjoy their football, we also don’t want the sport we love to have negative repercussions on their future and wellbeing."

KILLINGWORTH FC'S INTERNATIONAL LINKS

Killingworth FC are proud to announce an international club link between ourselves and Haddam-Killingworth Soccer Club!

After a bit of global scouting we discovered another Killingworth, this time in Connecticut, USA! Contact was made and with both clubs agreeing that this is an excellent opportunity with mutual benefits for everyone involved, the link was made!

Mark Rooke, Chairman of Killingworth FC said: “As a club we’re really excited to create the link, it gives both clubs a bit of exposure in another country! We hope that some of our players and coaches can make contact with their international counterparts and share their experience, knowledge and love of football, (or soccer), and who knows… one day we would love to host a friendly exhibition match between the two clubs and maybe some of our teams can even get over to America to play there too!”
